FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
YOUTUBE REALITY SERIES SIGNS FIRST ARTIST TO RECORD LABEL
January 13, 2010 (SAN ANTONIO, TX) – San Antonio based record label Undergrad Records announced today that indie rock group, So Sweet The Hour, has become the first act signed under the Undergrad name. The band will be having its CD release party on January 17th at the White Rabbit, with the album being released on iTunes and other online music outlets in February. Those who are in attendance of the CD release party will receive a free copy of So Sweet The Hour’s newest release, “A Better Way To Say Okay”.
“It’s an exciting time for both the label and the show,” says Patrick Owen, owner and star of Undergrad Records. “Viewers who have been with the show from the beginning saw how I started the company and the resources I’ve utilized to get it off the ground. In signing So Sweet The Hour, the stakes are even greater now, but they will get to see every moment and be a part of it. The kids of SSTH are extremely talented, especially for their age, and I think a lot of people will be impressed by their live show, as well as the album itself.”
About Undergrad Records – Undergrad Records began as a YouTube reality show, documenting a graduating college student as he takes his last financial aid check from college to start an independent record label. In five episodes, the show has received over 665,000 views, become a YouTube partner, and has featured music from acts such as 3oh3, YouTube star Ronald Jenkees, Hotspur, Thee Armada, Call The Cops, Gillmor, and more. In January of 2010, Undergrad signed its first act, So Sweet The Hour, and looks to become a channel to feature young, new talent.
